Church is Spiritual?

Church, it's that thing we do on Sunday, when we gather up the family and head out the door for that hour or so of God time for the week. Church, where we talk to friends that we haven't seen or had time to talk to much casue life seems to get so busy. Then Sunday comes along and time to get up early and put out time in, something that we do weekly, or for some daily. Yet, what is church? It is a so much more then a physical place that we come to weekly to worship and hear about the good things of God! Is it a place of peace, refreshing, and rest, or is it just a building we attend to satisfy the husband or wife?

Church is basically what we make of it. It is or can be such a wonderful spiritul experience or it can be just routine, something we do. It is one place that we know for a fact that Heaven is brough down to earth for a short or long time depending on how long the service is or how long the pastor / preist feels lead to talk to the congeration. It is when the angels come and surround us with their presence, when the Holy Spirit fills the room and all of the Lord's goodness is all aournd you. Church is when we reach out and grab that small piece of heaven to cling to get through the rough times during the week. It is where we renew our strength, our hope and find that true everlasting love. A time where we sit in the presence of the Lord, if we recongize Him or not He is there in the mist of His believers.

Church is in a sense a true spiritual experience. It is when our spirit is freely able to reach out to God, without us trying to hold it back or fight all that is going on. We tend to relax more in Church and look for that sense of peace that we all have in our lives, a time when we feel at home and settled, at peace with all that is going on around us even if it is just for an hour when we are there focusing on the Lord.

Church is something that we attend or run to in our time of need, because we know that the Lord is there and we want His help and guidance in the things that we are experiencing. It is also a place that we find others who are seeking God, prayer warriors and people that we are able to turn to because they would understand how all these things play into our faith. Simply, because the believe and worship in the same manner that we do. There is a sense of family in a church community, a place where we are able to be ourselves and not have to worry if the pastor or priest is going to love us or like us. It is a place where we feel the love of Chirist in the church but as well through others that we know in the church.

It is a sacred place that we are always safe, and feel loved at all times, no matter what has happendd in the past 10 minutes. It is a safe haven for many. It is a place where they are able to freely share thie emotions, feeling with the pastor or priest and not be in fear of being rejected or looked down upon, but rather loved and guided in the things of the Lord.  It is a place that we run to for prayer, and hope in times of need. Somewhere we know that we can to turn to no matter what is happening now or at 3 am, that when we call and need them they are there for us as their congration. The pastor / priest is just a phome call away and they will come out to the hospital at 3am to be there to show God's love and guidande, comfort to those that are His children. They hold the hand of the dying souls, and the hands of the ones who are grieving the lost of the loved ones. They are there through tears of joy, the birth of a new child or the adoption of that special soul into the family. They baptise the child and the adults, and love to watch the Grow, not only physically but spiritually.

Church is a spiritual place, let go and reach out to God and see all that He has to offer to you in that small hour service. Take His hand and lean on His, find that joy, comfort and peace that you so long for, it is all there for His children. All yo have to do is say Yes to God and walk with Him.

Quietness

At times in our lifes there is a sense of quietness, a time where there is nothing that is vital that has to be done. A time of refreshing that occurs, and often we miss it. We look for the things that we are missing, or should be doing at that moment in time, rather then being truly refreshe by God. We may fill our heads with the fact that we need to do more community work, more time at the church, need to find the right job if we are unemployed or under paid for what we do for a living. Yet, we struggle with doing nothing, we feel that we must be productive all the time that we have available, are we reading the best seller, hunting for the bargins now that christmas is a month away, or are we planning the big event with all the family. We are always thinking and planning things out that are about to happen or events that are coming in our lives. Now planning is good, yet at what point do we stop and let the Spirit of God refresh us.

We become so wrapped up in the events and things that life throws at us that we don't take the time to become refeshed by God. We can't understand that the quietness is vital, and important  to the refreshing of the soul. It is in the quietness that we stop and listen to God, that we bask in His love. Yet, when we fimally take that time to be quiet in God, it is then that we remember the list for the grocery store, what the kids need for the class project, or the last conversation we had with a family member or a stranger at the store and our mind then wonders. So then we stop and get up and lose that moment with the Heavenly Father. Then we go and do all those things that came to our minds in those 15 seconds of quietness. Yes, a time to think and reflect on everything, but the purpose is to sit with God and be quiet with him to allow Him to minister to us and give our souls what it needs at that moment in time.

We tend to get so caught up in everything that we disturb that peace of the Heavenly Father. We think, process all kinds of things rather then sitting and really focusing on God. Yes, it is a habit that is to be deveolped, but it is vital to the soul to spend this time in prayer with the Father. It is for the outpouring of our soul, but also a time to become refreshed in God! A time when we sit in His love, His peace, and truly listen to the Father and hear from Him. To know that He is near, that he is listening to you and really loves you for who you are right now! That there is nothing more that he wants from you other then to sit and spend time with you on a daily bases. He longs for your company and that quiet time so He can minster to you where you are and meet those needs that only He can meet at this point in your life.

We all need to learn that it is in this quietness that we are truly refreshed. But more then refreshed in God, that we are able to rest in His presence. It is in these moments that we feel the Father's loving arms around us, and know without a shodow of a doubt that He is near to us and will never leave us no matter what happens in our lives. He is there if we shall call upon Him, and in that quietness we may find the love that we need, or answers that we are seeking. It is in this quietness that we find a spiritual  peacefulness!

Walking on the road.

We as Christians are followers of the Lord. We walk daily with Him and long to be in His presence. Yet, there are times that we all slip and fall, and may even walk away from the Lord. Yet, in the end when we return He is there to welcome us home with loving, open arms. We then find that ultimate love once again and start over with God.  We have to be open to the Father and His love to be able to walk, pray and grow in him. We also have to learn how to listen to God as we walk the road of life.

As we walk this road, we are to share the ;love of Christ with those who are around us. We are to have the Love of Christ with our family, neighbors, friends, people in the community, strangers, members of the church, the priest, the pastors and all that we can come into contact with daily, weekly and monthly. We are to inspire those who are around us to want to walk with God, and if they are to walking with the Lord, then we want them to walk closer, deeper relationship with the Heavenly Father. We are there to lead others in there walk, and to be lead by others as well. To be open to teaching and talking about the Lord with others, along with having a open spirit to learn about God from others. We are to have that communion with God, and woth those in our lives.

We are to pray, and listen in prayer. We as Christians are called to pray, to interceed daily for those needs, and people in our lives. We need to pray, and a part of prayer is being still in God. Something that is very hard for many people. To take that time to listen, be still and sit in God's presence and allow him to minster to us as His children.  It is so important to listen and sit quietly in prayer, yet we are so distracted in todays society with TV, sports, cell phones, email and work that we often list the petitions to God and say Amen! I can see God, sitting on there on the couch, going to say something, yet we say bye and walk out the door before we allow Him to speak to us. I heard a perfect example to this, we walk into the MD office and sit down, then The doctor come in and we say hello, and list all out complaints and worries to him, when we are done we say bye and leave. We didn't give him a chance to speak, and he stops you at the door and says, so you want to hear what I have to say? One other thing we all should do when we take the time to pray is to lift up the spiritual leaders in our lives. To pray for the priests, the pastors, the nun's who are in the convent and teaching in the school or working out in the community. They too need our prayers, they face some giants in life that we as lay people may never face. They fight for us in the spiritual realm, and we are thankful for them in our lives, so lets remember them in prayer as well.

As we continue down this road we are to take the time to become part of the church. I know that many are members of the church, but are you there in church or is it that you are just going through the motions. Er are to listen to the homilys, the sermons that are presented on Sunday morning. They are given to help us walk that road with God. They are there to help us when we come to the stumbling block, to give you the tools to use to keep on the straight and narrow path.  Are we singing the songs with our hearts or just our heads? Are you there wondering about lunch, who is calling as you hear the cell phone vibrate, or what the afternoon holds, and wow this is a long sermon! Are you just there waiting to see what happens, or are you drawing near to God, focusuing on him for that hour or 45 minutes once a week. Can we give God our full attention for that short time to God and learn more about Him, or are we so distracted that we lose the purpose of why we attend mass or church.

We are to go to one another or to the priest, pastor or maybe a deacon and cofess the sins that we have in our hearts. We are to go to them to help us in admitting our wrongs against Christ, and by doing this big step in faith we are taking the stronghold over that sin. We go to the priest and the pastors to help us in gaining forgiveness form God, so that we no longer continue to sin in that manner.

As we walk the road and follow after the Lord, we begin to grow and mature in Him. Those old desires to son become less frequent, we have to the tools to say no and to walk away from that sin. We are able to be secure in the Lord, because of His blood and His love for us as His Children.
