Shhh Listen already!

Last Sunday I walked into church and found an open sport about mid way back on the side, so I sat there in the pew and prepared for service to start. I was sitting there reflecting and praying, upon sitting back in the pew I started to notice the world of church around me. The families that came in and sat down, who was praying, who was talking and who was there just going through all the motions for another person or becase they had to be there. It was a sad testament to the youth in the church! To see the parents so distracted, talking to their other half, digging in the purse, or just day dreaming, all this is fine prior to the start of mass.

Once Father walks in and the mass starts, we are there to learn, worship, prayer and take communion. I found how easily it is to be distracted when there is a couple behind you that is not there for the mass, rather just another family thing that they have to dso for the kids on Sunday. To attend mass, pray, then go on our merry way the rest of the week.

Its a wonder that many people get anything out of mass when there is a couple or family sitting behind you that has no respect for the mass, Father or the simple fact that they are in God's house!!! Is it so much to ask that when Father is pouring out the homily that is from his heart, that you take the time to listen. That you pay attention and stop talking. The homily is not that long and if you so need to talk then go to the lobby and be respectful of those around you. Some actually come to mass to draw closer to the HEavenly Father. They may need to hear from God, have that quiet moment to pray in mass. They may need to find peace, love and solitude in the Lord, but with all the distractions around you it can be hard for some to focus on the word of the Lord, the message that is being given to the people of the church. What would happen if someone really needed to hear the homily, that God had the Father prepare that specific service for a select few people to meet them where they are in their walk, to tell them it is ok, and that there are people here to trust or love them as they are right now. Yet, they missed the whole point of the mass, because of the noise, the constant chatter that is occuring behind them.

There is a time to talk prior to and after mass. Please be respectful of thise around you and of God himself in the services. Would you behave that way knowing that God was there sitting a pew behind you. Would you chater if you were there sitting in His presence, in His house? God is there in the church if you recongize or pay attention to Him or not, but be respectful of those sitting around you, they may need that word or touch form the Father, and if they miss it because of you, how will you explain that one to God. Sorry  Lord, I had to keep texting or talk about the lunch date and party after church, it is just a formality on Sunday for the kids?

Take the time in mass or in any service to reflect, listen and pray. Take that time in mass to draw closer to the Heavenly Father.

Walking on the road.

We as Christians are followers of the Lord. We walk daily with Him and long to be in His presence. Yet, there are times that we all slip and fall, and may even walk away from the Lord. Yet, in the end when we return He is there to welcome us home with loving, open arms. We then find that ultimate love once again and start over with God.  We have to be open to the Father and His love to be able to walk, pray and grow in him. We also have to learn how to listen to God as we walk the road of life.

As we walk this road, we are to share the ;love of Christ with those who are around us. We are to have the Love of Christ with our family, neighbors, friends, people in the community, strangers, members of the church, the priest, the pastors and all that we can come into contact with daily, weekly and monthly. We are to inspire those who are around us to want to walk with God, and if they are to walking with the Lord, then we want them to walk closer, deeper relationship with the Heavenly Father. We are there to lead others in there walk, and to be lead by others as well. To be open to teaching and talking about the Lord with others, along with having a open spirit to learn about God from others. We are to have that communion with God, and woth those in our lives.

We are to pray, and listen in prayer. We as Christians are called to pray, to interceed daily for those needs, and people in our lives. We need to pray, and a part of prayer is being still in God. Something that is very hard for many people. To take that time to listen, be still and sit in God's presence and allow him to minster to us as His children.  It is so important to listen and sit quietly in prayer, yet we are so distracted in todays society with TV, sports, cell phones, email and work that we often list the petitions to God and say Amen! I can see God, sitting on there on the couch, going to say something, yet we say bye and walk out the door before we allow Him to speak to us. I heard a perfect example to this, we walk into the MD office and sit down, then The doctor come in and we say hello, and list all out complaints and worries to him, when we are done we say bye and leave. We didn't give him a chance to speak, and he stops you at the door and says, so you want to hear what I have to say? One other thing we all should do when we take the time to pray is to lift up the spiritual leaders in our lives. To pray for the priests, the pastors, the nun's who are in the convent and teaching in the school or working out in the community. They too need our prayers, they face some giants in life that we as lay people may never face. They fight for us in the spiritual realm, and we are thankful for them in our lives, so lets remember them in prayer as well.

As we continue down this road we are to take the time to become part of the church. I know that many are members of the church, but are you there in church or is it that you are just going through the motions. Er are to listen to the homilys, the sermons that are presented on Sunday morning. They are given to help us walk that road with God. They are there to help us when we come to the stumbling block, to give you the tools to use to keep on the straight and narrow path.  Are we singing the songs with our hearts or just our heads? Are you there wondering about lunch, who is calling as you hear the cell phone vibrate, or what the afternoon holds, and wow this is a long sermon! Are you just there waiting to see what happens, or are you drawing near to God, focusuing on him for that hour or 45 minutes once a week. Can we give God our full attention for that short time to God and learn more about Him, or are we so distracted that we lose the purpose of why we attend mass or church.

We are to go to one another or to the priest, pastor or maybe a deacon and cofess the sins that we have in our hearts. We are to go to them to help us in admitting our wrongs against Christ, and by doing this big step in faith we are taking the stronghold over that sin. We go to the priest and the pastors to help us in gaining forgiveness form God, so that we no longer continue to sin in that manner.

As we walk the road and follow after the Lord, we begin to grow and mature in Him. Those old desires to son become less frequent, we have to the tools to say no and to walk away from that sin. We are able to be secure in the Lord, because of His blood and His love for us as His Children.

Draw me closer.....

One main theme that we hear in sermons, homilys, worship songs and hymns is draw me closer Lord, draw me to you and let me dwelll in your presence. Come unto the Lord, draw unto Him, and He will draw to you. Come read, worship, and praise the mighty Lord, and you will find love, peace and joy in your heart.

Yet, this is not the easiest thing for us to do, we all have sin in us and have sinned against God. Yes, all have sinned, this includes you and me, the pastor in the local church, the priest at the local catherdal, the nuns who are hidden there in the convent and the deacon in the office down the hall. They all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. This makes us all sinners. Yet, it is often hard to think that those we look to for our spiritual guidance, who work, live and breathe to forward the love and word of God have sinned.  Although, they are human too and have needs, wants, and friends amoung us who wonder the church. They are no differnet the the rest of us in the Christian community other then they are called to a different minstry then the rest of us. They have a deep calling to fellowship, work for the Lord. They are there to help us, guide us to God in ways that we are may not see on our own. They are an ever present source of help when we are in need, we call then and they see us, counsel us and love us as children of the Lord and never ask for anything in return, other then a thanks as we walk out the door. They are the spiritual leaders in our churches and they are our friend in need.

They are all human, along with you and I, and we all have one common calling in our daily lives, one of drawing nearer to God. We are all to draw unto him and He will come to us if we ask Him. We are his children and he is not going to stay away from us if we ask Him to come. We are to draw near to one another in our time of need and in times of joy.  There is to be no lone soliders in the game of life, We are to have fellowship with each other and with the priests, pastors, nuns, and deacons of the church.

By drawing near to God, we ar then allowing ourselves to be open to God and what He wants for us as His children. We are able to grow in our faith in the Lord, and walk in the grace of the ever present Father.  It is in the drawing near to God that we are able to reach out and let go of hidden hurts, grief, and pain, because we have the love of the Father there with us able and willing to comfort us. Along with the Heavenly Father, we have those in the church that we can draw near too to help us along the path that we are walking.

This drawing of the Father will also allow us to come clean with God, get rid of the hidden dirt, the sins that no one knows about other then you. The things we are too ashamed of to ever speak of, those things that are well hidden in the past. We are able to let go of them and be washed completly in the Blood of Jesus. His blood can and will clease us if we are willing to let go, confess them, and allow ourselves to be forgiven by the Father. He loves us and wants to be so close to us, if we allow Him to come and draw near to Him, ask Him and He will be there with you.

Will you follow?

A friend called and invites you out, you go willingly. They call back and say the car is full now, and could you drive and follow them there, but wonders if you could stop and pick up two other friends. You comply and arrange to pick them up in enough time and get to where you are going in time. Yet when a friend calls and says come follow me we go, we trust and know them and if our safey is not in danger we will follow them and hang out with them because we love and care for them as our friends.  We arrange lunches, outtings, shopping spress and all sorts of activities without thinking twice with those that we know. We lead and follow our friends, and never really give it any thought.

Yet, if the Lord were to show up on your doorstep tomorrow morning, and said "Come follow me". Would you go freely, and willingly, or would it be "Lord, not now there is laundry to finish, lunch to make, towels to fold etc." We may respond with "Lord, I am not worthy, and you don't want me to follow you with all that I have done". We feel like we are not able to follow us God, with all that we have done in the past, and who I am you don't want me to tag along, I am not holy enough. Or better yet, you reply I don't go to church, let alone pray or any of those things. It is then that God reaches out to you once again with His out streached arms and says, "My child, come and follow me I love and forgive you of all that you have done." What do you do? Do you go, or are you still questioning your worthiness, His love, His concern for you.

Yet, in the Bible the disciple that went off to follow Jesus, were not the top scollars in the class. They were the poor, the misfits of society. They were no way worthy of God, His love or His teachings. They were willing to leave all and say Yes Lord I will follow you. Now, I know what you are thinking, I am not leaving my life to wonder the earth to follow God! That is not what He want you to do, rather He want you to walk with Him daily. He knows you are busy and yet says come and follow me, walk with me, talk to me and be with me, I want to fellowship with you. We tend to be hesitant with God, yuet if a firend were to call we would go willing ly, and say sure come on over, or I will be there in 10 minutes.

God, wants us to walk and follow Him. He longs for a relationship with Him. One that is more then a Sunday morning service weekly, or monthly. He longs for that daily communication. He wants to be there for us on a daily basis. All he asks for us to take time daily to walk with Him, He knows you are busy that is why is isn't asking for your entire day, just a few minutes, 10 to 15 a day. God wants to be there for you, if you let Him, He has a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, love that will never end, and blood that will cleanse us of all our sin. He looks for you to take the time to pray or talk to God, and part of prayer is listening, being still in the presence of God and allowing Him to talk to you, comfort and love you. He wants you to spend a few minutes in His word reading. If you don't know where to start, then try the New Testament, or a devotion that will not only give you some scripture readings, also some insight into the word of God.

Take the time, pick up the cross and walk with God, it will be the best relationship you will ever have in your life.

Leaning

In Sundays service there was an awesome message for all Christians of today. One of leaning on others. Not only leaning on them but then being there for them at tier time of need and allowing them to lean on you. We as people all need someone that we are able to rely on in times of need, it can be friends, family, our priest, the pastor of the church or another soul that we feel feel close to or have bonded with at some point in our lives.  We look to them for support, love, a caring touch, a hug in those moments that we just need a friend. We lean on people and may not realize that we are leaning on them at all, since as friendship and family draw near it is natural to turn to them during this point. Yet, this is a very hard thing for some to do, leaning on others is not a natural thing. It is something that needs to be encouraged, and supported as being ok.

Some of our family, friends have hurt us and scorned us to the point that we are afraid to turn to others in those times. In fear that they will run from us, or worse let us fall in the process and then we hit the floor cause the one we were trying to lean on doesn't want to be leaned on or can't help us at the time of our need. It may not be that they don't want too, but rather they don't have what we need from them at that particular moment.

But there is one that we are always able to lean on at any moment, no matter what the time or situation. There is one that will always love us, hold us in our time of need, one that says give me all your burdens and let me carry them for you. We all have the ability to reach out to Him if we are willing. Our Heavenly Father is always there ready and waiting for us with open arms. He loves us so much and hates to see us hurting, so much so that he sees and knows every tear that we have cried since our birth. He understands what we are going through and says come to me my dear child, come and be comforted.

Our Heavenly Father is there, waiting and willing to listen anytime. He loves and care about us more then we can ever imagine. He is there in our times of need, and in our times of joy. He is there when we need to lean on others, He is there so we can lean on Him , and He can bring the right person to you so you can lean on them during that time. He can provide another person in that time to hug you and say it's okay, I understand, I am here if you need me.  The Father provides priests, pastors in our lives when we need that help, and may need someone to talk to if we need to go that route. He provides Priests and Pastors who care for us, that love us as God's children, who are willing to talk to us and help guide us along the path that ewe are walking.

Ultimately, God wants us to lean on Him, and walk with Him. He is always there! He will never leave us nor forsake us, we are His children! He loves and cares for us, so go ahead and lean on God, He is there waiting for you!

Our Father.

This last weekend I had the privilege to attend a very moving seminar, and during that seminar one of the topics was our Father. Who is our father, who is that man that we call dad. What kind of father was he when we were growing up. Our dad is someone who we look to in times of trouble, one we can always turn to when we are scared, hungry, need shelter, or love.  Being a father is a privilege that many men have and take for granted. There is no one that can ever replace that man in our lives that we call Daddy!

Yet, what kind of father did we grow up with, who was he to us as children. Did dad come to all your games, read to you, tuck you in at night and kiss you then turn out the light.  Dad is the one we wanted when the monster in the closet were stirring, or we swore we heard something under the bed or there in the window. He came to us as children, put our minds at ease, let us know that there was nothing to worry about that he would not let them get us or scare us that he was there and would protect us because we were his child.

I know that all dad's are not this way, there are many types of father's in the world, but in the end we all love our dad and who he is in our lives. The type of father we have though and how we see our father here on earth can play a role in how we look at our Heavenly father.  That image of God the Father is one that so many today struggle with because of the past that they have with there father here on earth.

Our Father is one that loves us beyond comprehension. His love never fails, it is never taken away from us because we are his children. We are always to be secure in the love of our Father because there is nothing that separate us from that love. We don't have to earn the love of the Heaven Father by doing or not doing something. He loves us always no matter what we do, He is always forgiving and standing there with open arm waiting for us to run into His loving arms.  He loves you just the way you are, you are His Child and you are perfect in his eyes. We are created in His image and we are loved by Him without strings attached to that love.

Wasting Time:

There is something that we all do in life and on a daily bases that others consider wasting time. We acknowledge att he time we are doing it or shorting there after that what we were doing was a true waste of time , and that we should have been doing something else at that moment. Yet, what is wasting time, and is something a waste of time to one person, while it could be very important to another soul. Then there are a ton, and I mean a ton of resources out there that tell you how to be mnore efficient in your day, how to be more effective in a shorter amount of time. Yet, our time is ours and it is all we have in a day, the same 24 hours as any other person, what we choose to do or if others see us as wasting our time as Christians then so be it, God is not a waste of time in my book! Going to daily mass, church on Sunday is not a waste of time it is a time growth and renewal!

Why do people think that time spent with God is a waste of time? God is vital in our lives as Christians, even if you have only been a Christian and walking with the Lord for 2 minutes or have been walking that path for several months or years. By having that walk with God on a daily bases we are able to secure in the love that the Father has for us as His Children. When we take that time daily to be with the God, we know not only are we loved by God, but we are able to recieve all that the Father has for us as His Children. We are His sons and daughters, we are valued by the Father, and and he wants us to spend time with Him. He longs for those moments when we take the time to talk to God, and listen to what He is telling us. He loves when His Children come to him in worship, that time when we draw so near to the Father, that we almost hear His heart beating for us.

As His children we are always loved. There are no conditions on the love. We are not loved by God if we do or not do something. We are si,ply loved by God because we are His kids! We are able to come to the Father through the cross and the reserection of His Son Jesus. We are able to remove all hinderences that would prevent us from getting to our Father in Heaven. But, we have a direct line to heaven beacuse of our Faith and belief in Him. He is all loving and a very forgiving Father, and will always welcome His children home with open arms. He is there waiting and long for us to be there with Him and spend a little time each day with our loving Father in Heaven! God, loves us and if spending time with my HEavenly Father is never a waste of time.

When we are in the arm of the Father, spending time with Him, being there in His presence we are renewed, we find strenght, comfort, peace, love and so much more. It is one of the best places here on earth that we can ever experience is that of being in the loving arms of the Heavenly Father!

Praise in the Storms.

There is a song on the radio that states to praise God in the middle of the storm. To reach out to God, and to sing to Him with all your heart and soul when we are in the middle of a storm in life. That we are able to reach the heart of God by singing His praises when the rain is falling all around us and there is not a break in the clouds. When one thinks the rain and the storms are going to last for days, months or even years, it is then that we are to sing out to our Holy Father. It is in the mist of all that rain that we are to sing out to Him, praise him in the storms and then we will see that He is still in control and has not let go of us.

It is good for our soul to reach out to heaven and sing the praises to God, not only in the the times of joy, but in times of the sorrow, confussion, bitterness, in the storms of life. The Bible tells us that we are to praise God with our voices and to life our lives as a reflection of Him in us. Our praise is a reflection upon us as to who we are, that praise is a reflection of God in our hearts, our minds and in the words that we speak to others and to ourselves as well.

That praise that comes from our lips is in itself very powerful. It is in middle of praise that we are not only able to come into the presence of God, and dwell there, we are able to find rest in the Lord. We we start to dwell in that holy presence of God, it is there that we are so close to the Father, and His healing and comfort is so strong as we bask in His holiness. It is in that presence of the heavenly Father that we are there in the arms of God, safe and secure in Him, where we find it is so easy to rest  in Him.

When we are there in the mist of praising God we are able to do spiritual warefare. It is there that we are able to show that in the middle of troubles we are stilling running to God and not away from Him. When we run to Him in these times, we are able to find that we take power and stamina away from the things that are coming up agaist us. We may find that ultimate deliverance, when we are standing, sitting in the presence of God. In that praise we are able to bring the walls down, they will fall and shatter all around in the presence of God.

That presence is so very apparent when we are praising the the heavely Father. God is there with us, and we are speaking a heavely language when we sing the praises to God. When we reach out to God in through our praise we are able to see and be in the glory of God for that moment. In that moment we know the love of the Father, and are thankful for all that He has done for us his children. We are able to praise God with the angels, and that is a wonderful thing and a powerful thing. We are able to find rest, peace, love, secuity in the arms of the Father that we are able to run to through our praises.
